Computer passwords are a funny thing. The reason that I say computer passwords are a funny thing is because while they can protect people from a lot of bad problems, they can also create a lot of problems for people. The main reason that computer passwords can cause problems for people is when they forget their password. Going back to computer passwords being a funny thing, this is kind of an ironic issue in itself. In order to be as secure as possible, it is always a good idea to make a computer password as complicated as possible. However, on the flip side of the issue, the more complicated that a computer password is, the harder it is going to be to remember. While you can write a complicated password down for future reference, many people simply forget to do this, while others don’t feel comfortable writing sensitive information like passwords down on paper (because they feel that defeats the purpose of having a really secure password).
When it comes to bad password situations, I think it is safe to say that one of the worst password situations you can find yourself in is forgetting an administrator password. The reason that this is such a problem is because it can affect your whole computer, or even worse, if you are a network administrator, it can affect an entire group of computers.
If you find yourself in this situation, the first thing you should do is consult any manuals that you have at your disposal. If this doesn’t yield any results, you should seek the assistance of an expert. There are almost always solutions to this problem, but it may take an expert to figure out those solutions.
